I live in Phoenix and, because everything is so spread out, the mentality here is very much "do your own thing" and "have your own stuff". As a result, internet cafes aren't really that popular here - but we do have few in places like Tempe where the college crowd can benefit from it. What's more popular, actually, is the cafes that just have wi-fi and people can come and work on their laptops and have a drink - which, considering the society we live in, is probably a more fiscally logical thing for the business anyway.

But in Europe internet cafes are everywhere. I remember many years ago when I used to visit with my family that I would always go to them with my friends and play video games or hang out on the internet. Because personal computers were so scarce then (private laptops were unheard of), going to the internet cafes was a ton of fun and an affordable, neat way to go hang out with your friends.

Have you ever been to an internet care or did you used to go in your part of town?
